Download & Installation

Click the icon or download link for the file on this page you want to download.
Wait until the download is complete.

If it failed, hold down the control-key (ctrl) and click on the download button. A popup-menu appears. Choose the item "Download Link To Disk" (Other Web Browser: "Save Link To ..." , "Download File To ..." , " Save File To....", ......???).

Or use the "Alternate Download".

If your web browser and system are properly configured, Disk Copy will launch to open the downloaded disk image and a "License" dialog appears. Click on "Agree" to proceed.

If "Disk Copy" doesn't automatically open when your download completes, follow these steps:

Find the file you just downloaded. It will usually be saved to your desktop, with a name like "winext.dmg" .
Double-click this image to open it in Mac OS X's Disk Copy application, which will mount it as a virtual disk and open a new Finder window showing the contents of this virtual disk. If Disk Copy does not launch when you double click on the file, you can try dragging the downloaded file onto the Disk Copy icon in your Dock or the /Applications/Utilities/ folder.

When the program "Disk Copy" is finished, the disk "Wine XT Disk" is mounted and a new Finder window will appear containing the icon of your new "Wine XT" application.
Now simply drag the "Wine XT" icon to your Applications folder (or whatever other folder or disk you'd like to store it in) to install.

Once "Wine XT" is installed, you can safely "eject" the virtual disk it came on (and dispose of the .dmg file you downloaded if you choose). Double-click the "Wine XT" icon in its new location to begin using it, or drag it to your Dock for easy access.

Note: "Wine XT" stores it preferences and other support files outside of the actual application itself. It is safe to overwrite any existing copies of "Wine XT" with a newer version should you not wish to keep the older version on your system - your preferences and database will be retained. It is always good to keep a backup of important files, however. Your database can be found in the following location: < ~/Documents/Wine XT/> and your preferences file is located here <~/Library/Preferences/com.edwinbuehler.winext.plist>. ('~' refers to your home folder.)

I get an error about not having the required permissions when I try to replace my older version of "Wine XT"! Why is this? This error can occur if your current copy of "Wine XT" is still running when you attempt to replace it with the new version. Make sure you quit your current copy of "Wine XT" before trying to replace it with the newer version.

Register

Of you tried the program and purchased a license at our web-store, you must register "Wine XT".

Start the program, select the menubar item "Wine XT" and choose the entry "Register".

Edit your name and your serial number and click the "Register" button.

What is eCD?

eCD is the option of receiving your software purchases on CD, in addition to downloading them from the web store. It's available for all shopping cart items that display the icon.

It's a plain CD and not a box. It costs additional US$7.50.

If you purchase this option, you will receive a plain-packaged CD containing all supported items from your order. The CD will be shipped within two business days via First Class/Airmail. Most deliveries will arrive within just a few days, but we ask that you allow three weeks for delivery to U.S. addresses, and four weeks for delivery to non-U.S. addresses.
